Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno says they will providing lighting to the stadium to enable construction works to go on day and night.

Speaking after a meeting with officials from CHAN Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and Sports Kenya, in Eldoret, Chemno said the county will closely monitor construction works at the Eldoret stadium.

"I will be dedicating some hours on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, getting to the stadium and following the progress. This is because Eldoret has to host the championship and there's no discussion about it," he said.

The deputy governor further called for prompt payment of contractors to avoid delays due to nonpayment.

"The Sports Kenya and LOC must pay contractors as agreed to avoid a situation where construction works stalls because contractors have not been paid," Chemno said.

Kipchoge Keino is among five stadia that will host 2018 CHAN games starting January 12 to February 4, 2018.

Upon completion, the stadium will have modern terraces, state-of-the-art pavilion, expanded changing rooms and a parking bay that will accommodate over 400 vehicles.
