Kiambu County government has vowed to roll out policies that will create employment opportunities for the youth.

Speaking on Sunday at Thika town, Kiambu youth and welfare affairs executive Michael Waikenda said that the county has lined up various strategies aimed at creating job opportunities.

The executive said that the county remains committed to addressing unemployment, which is among key challenges facing the county administration.

“We as the county we have lined up various policies on how to curb unemployment,” said the youth executive.

Waikenda said that much in regards to unemployment was realised in the past year, including the establishment of Biashara Fund.

He said that the fund has given out money to various youths, women and people with disabilities for them to start their own business ventures.

Waikenda said that plans are underway to increase allocations to the fund this year so that many people can have access.

The executive on the same note urged women and youths to continue applying for development funds.

He said that it is among the strategies that would help in the fight against unemployment.
