The County government of Uasin Gishu has offered to pay for the titling process for squatters at Turbo settlement scheme.
The squatters will however be required to pay for the surveying fees.
Speaking on Saturday when he addressed the squatters during a meeting to discuss how they would acquire the title deeds, governor Jackson Mandago urged the Turbo Sub-county Deputy County Commissioner and the squatters commuter to hasten the surveying process.
"We need the processing of the title deeds to start immediately so that the squatters can get those vital documents as soon as possible," said Mandago.
Area Member of Parliament Elisha Busienei said the matter had already been tabled and discussed by the Cabinet. He said President Uhuru Kenyatta would issue the title deeds in due course.
The governor later presided over the closing of Seventh Day Adventist Church elders conference at the Kisii University Eldoret campus, where he reaffirmed his government's commitment to working with with religious leaders.
