Uasin Gishu County government will form an inter-religion committee to foster unity and cohesion among the county residents.
Governor Jackson Mandago Monday said his government supports freedom of worship and the role it plays in the society.
"The committee will handle political and religious matters to promote unity," he said.
He added that his government will work with the clergy in preaching peace ahead of 2017 general election.
"My government will sponsor all religious, peace programmes in an effort to foster peace in the region which was badly hit by the 2007 post-election violence," he said
