[Photo: Elvanis Ronoh]Uasin Gishu government will absorb the first batch of youth under the County Internship Programme.Governor Jackson Mandago said that his government will take the first 600 youth starting January 2018."Employers need experience of years not less than five years, this often gives fresh graduates a hard time," he said during the Jamuhuri day celebrations, Tuesday." It is necessary for our youths to be empowered with skills and knowledge so that they cannot be chased away by companies due to lack of experience. We will put them into different departments as a way to ensure the young graduates are put under experience," he added.He also hinted that he will negotiate with government corporations and private firms to absorb this program."Students under this program will be given a sustaining monthly stipend for the period they will be serving in government,” noted governor Mandago.He also directed his new cabinet to ensure that the three groups of persons are given priority in terms of tenders and contracts.
