Kiambu county government is focused on adopting and integrating ICT for provision of quality services, Governor William Kabogo has said.
Speaking to the media at his Thika office on Friday, the governor said that use of ICT will enable residents to get quick, affordable and quality services.
Kabogo said that plans are at an advanced stage to automate all revenue collections.
He revealed that the county has seen rise in revenue collection following automation of some services like vehicle parking.
“The county is keen to embrace ICT in delivery of quality and affordable services to the public,” said Kabogo.
The governor said that the county has been incurring losses in revenue collection adding that corruption will be curbed once very sector is automated.
Kabogo noted that ICT has the capability of boosting economic growth of the county if well adopted and implemented.
On the same note, Kabogo asked residents to take advantage of the Huduma service centers in the county.
Kabogo observed that following the pilot Huduma project at Thika town, the county is keen to have the centers across the county.
He noted that the centers have made things easier for people seeking quick and urgent services like ID processing, NHIF services, permits and licenses among others.
County ICT director Douglas Gicho said they are working with financial institutions to automate all revenue collection sectors.
The ICT officer said that the world is quickly changing in terms of technology hence the need for people to move with it.
He added that the county is developing ICT platforms where the public can access and share information easily.
