The County government of Nyamira is set to introduce a mentor-mentee programme to help in improving the education standards in the county.
Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama revealed that students will receive free guidance and counseling advice on leadership-related issues, and how to go about the challenges that come forth as life moves on.
Speaking to journalists, Governor John Nyagarama said that the outstanding performance registered by the various schools in the county of Nyamira in the 2014 KCSE examination is pleasant and good news to all the people of Nyamira and Gusii at large, adding that the children should be encouraged to always work hard.
“We need to mentor our children well and encourage them to embrace hard work so that they can understand that there is no shortcut to attaining success,” said Nyagarama.
The governor said that the students from the seven schools that performed well and did the county proud led by Nyambaria Boys, Sironga Girls, Nyamira Boys, Kebirigo Boys, Nyakemincha Mixed, Nyansiongo and Nyaikuro Mixed will received the county government’s total support.
He also thanked the county education department for working hard to ensure that there was not even a single school in the County that was involved in examination malpractices like cheating.
