The County Government of Uasin Gishu has partnered with AMPATH on a programme on universal health care.
The programme has been touted to spur improvement of healthcare provision in facilities across the County.
On Monday a team from AMPATH led by Prof. Joe Mamlin paid a visit to the Office of the Executive in charge of Health Services, Everlyne Rotich, where they discussed a raft of plans on how to improve health care in the County.
Among key issues was the provision of medical cover under the national insurance, NHIF.
This is by ensuring that every individual, majorly the low-income earners get an access to the insurance cover, which will reduce the cost of receiving health services.
This comes just a few days after Governor Jackson Arap Mandago said his Government is pushing to ensure at least each individual in all the households across the County is enrolled in the scheme.
The team also said that they are going to provide means to empower the citizens who will in turn work towards raising a healthy community.
On her side, Mrs. Rotich said that her department has been working round the clock to better health systems and that the coming in of the organization will help the department meet its vision to bring up a healthy community.
The team will also provide a mobile Radiology unit which will be taken across the county thus improving accessibility and reducing congestion to the facilities offering Radiology services.
