Kisii county government is now partnering with various private sectors to ensure that they reduce the rate of unemployment in the county.
According to the county governor James Ongwae, the county government in the past few months has already sealed an agreement with both international and local investors to ensure that they create more jobs.
The governor added that they are looking into creating more than 4,000 jobs in this year alone and more jobs in the next financial year.
“Currently, it's estimated that over 100,000 people in the county are unemployed and if we partner with the private sector the numbers will reduce drastically and that is our aim,” added Ongwae
The county boss expressed his frustrations when he receives numerous job applications in his office daily and said that he must ensure that he creates more jobs while in office.
“We will give a conducive environment to the business sector by providing electricity, water, good roads and any other capacity building measures that will improve business in our county, because we know it will help in employing our people”, added the governor.
He further said his office will work closely with business people in the county to ensure they get maximum support to operate conveniently.
The governor was speaking on Sunday when he attended a church service at the Angalican Church in Suneka on Sunday.
