An elected MCA in Kisii County has said that the county government of Kisii through the department of agriculture will plant 1 million tea seedlings which will be supplied to tea farmers in the county to grow at their farms.

Sensi ward MCA Paul Angwenyi said the county is committed to boosting tea farming in the county. Angwenyi warned farmers against uprooting tea from their farms saying they will regret because tea companies will be giving farmers goo bonuses.

 “The county is targeting to plant 1 million tea seedlings which will be given to farmers for free so that they can grow at their farms to boost their earnings,” he said.

He promised to help farmers in the ward to grow more tea for them to get good bonuses at the end of every year.

“Farmers from the ward will be the first beneficiaries to get the free seedlings from the county. I want the region to be green in all farms. Free top dressing fertilizers will also be given to farmers to boost their farming activities,” he added. 

The MCA assured that there will be enough farmers taking their tea leaves for processing once the construction of Sombogo tea factory will be completed.
