Nyamira County government is in the process of procuring 300 motorbikes from Honda Company and gives it to four boda boda Saccos in the county as part of youth empowerment programme.
Youths are expected to pick the motorbikes from the four Saccos (Masaba, Manga, Nymira North and Nyamira South) at a small interst rate.
Speaking during the launching of Masaba North Boda Boda Sacco, County Executive Committee in charge of Youths Peter Omwansa said the programme will be unveiled in June after a meeting with motorbike representatives.
“We are in the process of acquiring 300 motorbikes which will be dispatched to all Boda Boda Saccos in the county. This is part of our youth empowerment programme that targets to improve their living standards,” he said.
“You will only be required to pay a little interest rate after sometime but the most important thing is that we progress as a young generation. We want an economy which is powered by youths,” he said.
He urged youths to form groups to access grants and loans from various government institutions and non-governmental cooperation’s.
“It’s important for you to understand that you can get help if you fail to join groups. They are very important for easy help. My wish is that we form groups that can get grants and loans easily,” he added.
