The Nakuru county government has begun the process of purchasing 22 Lorries for distribution to the sub counties. County Deputy Governor Joseph Ruto confirmed that they were already undergoing the procurement procedures into the purchase of the same. Speaking during the launch of TATA offices in Naivasha, Ruto said that the government intended to give two lorries to every constituency. “We intend to use these lorries in the local government’s daily activities. We hope that every constituency can be able to have a grader too,” he added. Ruto cited that the lorries would be locally purchased, citing that it had become expensive to buy and import vehicles from Europe and China. “We are trying to promote our local products and the lorries will be a great benefit to boost our industries,” he added. Ruto praised the developers targeting the county, saying that the economic development in the area was impressive. “As a county we intend to help entrepreneurs develop ideas. The county is slowly expanding especially in terms of people who want to start industries in the area. We are pleased with the attention the town is getting and slowly industries are drifting from Nairobi,” he added. Ruto appealed to international investors to consider investing in the county to spur economic prosperity.
