Speaking at Mvita Clinic on Monday during the official commissioning of the doctors' quarters at the facility, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nassir said they reached the decision following concerns raised by residents and patients.

The leaders said residents have for a long time being complaining of noise pollution.

"Our priority is to improve health service delivery. Even when you fall sick and are admitted here, you would not like to hear all this noise," said Joho.

Nassir on his part said the garage operations emit fumes that when inhaled could lead to health complications especially among children.

"The hospital administrators and some residents are silently complaining to us. We have to safeguard the rights of children and residents of this area," said Nassir.

"The CDF Committee is ready to set a side funds to build shelters for the garage workers elsewhere," he added.
