On Thursday, County secretary Patrick Lumumba said there are some workers who were not legally hired by the previous government.
“Some workers have been siphoning money from the county illegally. Such workers will be removed from the payroll. The ghost workers were hired through the County Public Service Board,” he said.
Lumumba said the illegal workers have increased the county wage bill and warned job fraudsters against cheating residents that there are job vacancies in the county.
“Residents should be keen not be cheated by job fraudsters because currently there are no job vacancies in the county,” he warned.
The secretary added that any county employee who will be involved in corruption risks sacking, arrest and prosecution.
“A legal action will be taken against any county workers engaging in corruption. We expect zero cases of corruption in the devolved unit,” he noted.
