The county government of Uasin Gishu will from next week begin moving all street families from Eldoret town.

Governor Jackson Mandago says the plan will see all street families relocated to the Children's rescue center.

Speaking in Eldoret on Tuesday, Mandago further asked parents to take care of their children to ensure they don't loiter in the streets.

"Everybody should take good care of his/her child because from next week all those street families will be moved to the rescue center," Mandago said.

"We want to clean our town and get rid of all elements that might pose a risk to our businesspersons and other investors," he added.

This will be the second time the county government will be trying to address the street families issue after the first attempt to transport the families to their homes during Mandago's first term in office backfired.
