According to a statement released by the governor’s office and read by Gesima ward representative Ken Atuti on Monday, the facility will be unavailable for one month since the contractor will be reporting on Monday next week.

“With me is the letter from the governor’s office and you are requested to relocate to a suitable place till we renovate this market,” Atuti said.

“Already funds have been set aside and the contractor will be here by next week. It will be important for you to respect the directive because it is for our own good,” added the MCA, who also heads the finance committee in the assembly.

He said the contractors will be given a duration of one month to have the work done before residents embark on their routine activities.

“The county government has also promised to expedite the process so that before the end of this April, all will be fine and you will be enjoying your work in the new market,” said Atuti.

The new plan will have the market roofed to protect traders from unfriendly weather besides building of public toilets as per the government requirement.
