Karatina road, which is situated opposite to Arcade building Thika commenced its maintenance on Thursday.

The maintenance happens barely a few days after the traffic commander in the area decried narrow roads in Thika town.

Traffic jam in Thika town has been a daily talk, where a 45 min drive in the area takes an estimated two hours during peak hours, leading to massive delay of passengers.

According to residents, the road will serve a great deal in providing a solution to the upsurge that has been condemned by many.

Construction supervisor James Gakura said that despite enlarging, the road will be murramed, and culverts provided, which he said will ease the usual snarl up in town.

Kenya Urban Road Authority, which has been equipped with the task, through their engineer said that the construction will take one week, and therefore urges motorists plying on that road to be patient and exercise caution while driving due to dust.

“The job is scheduled to be completed by next week on Thursday, and therefore we urge road users to be patient; we have sat with the governor and his team and rest assured that the county government has expressed a supportive hand to this task," he added.

James Njoroge, a casual employee in the maintenance also jubilates job creation in the construction.

What is now remaining is to see the residents enjoy eradication of jam and thus easy transportation in the area.
