Kiambu county government is seeking to revive the farming of coffee, which used to be the region's main cash crop.
Coffee farming in the county has been overtaken by real estate.
County deputy governor James Nyoro who is an agricultural economist said a task force has been set up to ensure residents start growing coffee.
"A team has been formed to interrogate the issues that have been ailing the coffee sector. Coffee in the past days used to be the main cash crop but seems the farmers ventured into other activities," said Nyoro.
He said the task force will come up with recommendations that will lead to revive the sector.
"New policies will guide residents to start growing coffee. Management of factories will also be looked at and necessary changes be made for farmers to earn good money from the crop," he added.
