Uasin Gishu County governor Jackson Mandago has hailed the county's tourist attraction sites.
Speaking on Saturday evening at the Eldoret sports club during the open golf tournament, Mandago said the North Rift region has diverse tourist attraction sites, which should be beneficial to the locals.
Mandago, who is also the North Rift Economic Bloc (NOREB) chairman said plans are underway to establish a golf event that will see more than 400 golfers attend.
"Golf is one of the activities that our Noreb region can boast of," said Governor Mandago.
Mandago added that his administration will sponsor at least 6 golf women players from Uasin Gishu to take part in Ghana Lady Open Day event in Accra.
On the other hand, Marakwet governor H.E Alex Tolgos, who is a known golfer, noted that his administration is working with stakeholders to see the establishment of a golf club in his County.
"As a golfer, I'm calling upon my fellow golfers from my County to come forward and join hands in establishing a golf-playing ground in Elgeyo Marakwet," said Tolgos.
The event brought together 110 women golfers from Kenya and Uganda with Uganda taking the day courtesy of Eva Mangala who emerged as the overall winner.
