The county government of Uasin Gishu has offered to sponsor the training of students willing to be technical institutions teachers.
Governor Jackson Mandago said this is in a bid to ensure the country has sufficient compete teachers at technical and vocational training institutions (TVET).
Speaking in Eldoret on Sunday, Mandago noted that the sponsorship will be for top students who are being sponsored to study various technical courses at the Rift Valley Technical Training Institute (RVTTI).
For the last three years, the county government of Uasin Gishu has been sponsoring 600 youths, 20 from each of the 30 words to study at RVTTI.
"Our intention as county government is to sponsor those students who have done well to go and study to be technical teachers," Mandago said.
"We are aware the national government is setting up technical and vocational training institutions in each constituency. This institutions will need teachers and this is why we want those job opportunities to go to our young men and women," he added.
The government has plans to establish at least 2 TVET institutions in each of the 290 constituencies across the country.
