Mr Korane said that his administration will put in place measures that will ensure that the suffering brought about by the current situation is minimized as hundreds of families are in need of water and relief food.
He said he will seek support from the national government and other development partners in ensuring that all those in need are reached.
“As a matter of urgency, my government will start to undertake water trucking and other interventions as soon as possible in order to respond to and salvage our people who are affected by the ongoing drought.”

The governor speaking to members of the county assembly said Garissa County is blessed with the best land for agriculture adding that he will initiate projects aimed at transforming farming to ensure food security.
He said he will ensure that the residents utilized the waters of Tana River that traverses the area to do irrigation farming.
“My government will also utilize Garissa’s land mass of over 46,000 sq kilometres which can feed the entire country if well utilized. In this regard, we have started talks with international investors on ways they can invest in farming and utilize over 2.3m acres of our land through irrigation,” he added.
