Speaking during a funeral ceremony on Wednesday at Magombo, Nyagarama said the power connection was essential in the region and would improve productivity in the region.

He said the programme will also give residents access to much needed power that could promote other businesses driven by power at local areas.

“My government is very keen to have residents get connected to electric grid. That is my vision because electricity increases our productivity and that is my wish. We will subsidize connection fee for people staying at least 30M from the national grid,” he said.

“We want people to expand their businesses at the local area so that we create more jobs for youths. We all know that electricity is essential in promoting of some small and medium scale businesses at the rural areas,” he said.

He said the county government in conjunction with Kenya Power will embark on the survey that will survey the regions and the likely number of people to benefit from the exercise.

“We will soon be going around with forms in the process of getting the exact number of people to benefit from the plan. I am now concentrating on working for my people and it’s upon them to decide whether I have worked or not by 2017,” he said without mentioning the exact amount of money the county will incur.
