The County government of Uasin Gishu is targeting to vaccinate 300,000 cows following Foot and Mouth disease outbreak.
Chemno says they county has already placed a quarantine, restricted livestock movement and trade in their products, and also closed all livestock markets across the county in a bid to contain the spread of the disease.
Speaking in Eldoret, Wednesday, Chemno assured livestock farmers that the county has enough budget for the vaccination exercise.
He attributed the outbreak of the disease to livestock dealers who transports livestock from neighboring counties without observing livestock movement health measures.
"We are telling our people to be careful when moving livestock from one county to another. We are also arguing traffic police officers doing patrols on the roads to make sure that every livestock being transported has genuine permit for movement," Chemno said.
The Deputy Governor however revealed that they are working closely with the neighboring devolved units to help the disease.
Similar sentiments were shared by the County's Agriculture and Livestock CeC who revealed that about Sh36 million had been allocated for the vaccination exercise.
Kesses, Moiben and Turbo Sub-counties are the most affected counties following the outbreak.
