Addressing the press in Kiambu town on Saturday, MP Njomo noted that education standards in the county have gone down.

He said that to boost education standards, the county and the national government must invest heavily in the education sector.

Njomo intimated that education remains the key to success and that development would only be realised if people are educated.

“The Kiambu County government must invest heavily in education to promote good performance in academics,” said Njomo.

The MP added that access to education must be made accessible and affordable to all Kenyans, saying that it is their rights to have basic education.

Njomo also asked county leaders to get involved in education matters and come up with programmes that will help boost education standards.

He acknowledged that Kiambu County has in the last years been performing exemplary in national examinations but the same is going down.

On bursaries issue, the MP urged both national and the county governments to set aside more funds for the same.

He observed that many needy but bright students are failing to continue with their education because they have no enough funds to cater for their education.

He however acknowledged that bursaries have helped many needy students to access education. He has urged government to increase Bursary Funds allocations to cater for the increasing number of bright and needy students.
