Speaking at Eldoret town over the weekend, county women representative Eusilah Ng’eny raised concerns over the rising unemployment.

She observed that cases of unemployment have escalated and seen many youths engage in social evils.

She said the county government and other stakeholders must act urgently and save the situation.

“Unemployment is a threat to development in Uasin Gishu County, the government must act quickly,” she said.

The women representative said cases of crime as a result of joblessness have gone up.

“Our youths are joining  crime because they have no job opportunities,” she said.

Ng’eny said that unemployment will be curbed if the government collaborates with private investors.

She said that Uasin Gishu youth should be given the first priority when it comes to job allocation. Ng’eny also asked youths to take advantage of the Uwezo Fund and advance their socio-economic development.
