Nominated MCA Farida Salim, speaking on Monday at Kisumu polytechnic at an educational event organized to boost an innovative culture of elites, challenged the government to allocate funds for purchasing computers, as the local job market needs computer knowledge.

She noted that computer classes were important, and the CeC needed to see on how funds would be disbursed towards boosting locals’ computer knowledge in various learning centers.

According to Salim, through purchasing of computers, a great number of locals would be literate, which is a requirement in the job market, and this would boost the workforce in the job market.

“Funds should be allocated towards the purchase of computers in our schools to boost the technical knowhow amongst our students,” said Salim.

“Through equipped computer lessons, the students would be highly productive as job market requires computer literacy,” added Salim.

Caroline Ogot, another nominated MCA, echoed similar sentiments, urging the CeC to allocate the funds to help in distributing computers to various schools.

“We need to instill proper computer lessons in our schools, and it can only be done when funds are allocated towards computer purchase and its distribution in various schools,” said Ogot.
