Lari MP Mburu Kahangara wants the county government to channel more resources to the health sector.
Speaking at Magina dispensary in Lari on Thursday, the MP noted that the heath care system needs more resources, adding that access to proper healthcare remains a challenge to many residents in the area.
He stated that Kiambu has enough funds, which should be channeled to heath care.
“The Kiambu government should prioritize and channel more funds to the heath sector,” he said.
The lawmaker added that locals have a right to proper medical care, and they should not be denied.
The MP further alleged that most hospitals and dispensaries, especially in remote areas have no medicine, while others lack enough staff.
Kahangara called on the national government to continue providing support to the health sector, adding that devolvement of health remain as challenge.
The lawmaker asked the Kiambu government to address the plight of health workers, noting that they deserve proper treatment and working conditions, so that they can be motivated to handle the public.
