The county government of Nakuru has been urged to ensure enough staff at the Bondeni Community Dispensary which serves majority of residents of Kivumbini and Biashara wards in Nakuru Town East Constituency.

According to the facility’s community board chairman Francis Shinali, it serves a larger number of residents but has only one doctor with no pharmacist and nutritionist.

“We have requested the county Governmnet to ensure that we have one more doctor, a pharmacist and a nutriotionist. We also want the government instead of doing renovation we can have expansion of the facility to meet the needs of residents,” he said.

The facility according to the chair serves around 200 people per day with APHIA plus having stepped in to offer services through their staff.

“Per day the facility serves around 200 patients and we thank APHIA Plus who stepped in to assist with a clinical officer as well as some volunteers but they only deal with comprehensive care centre and PMTCT but the other services remains with the government,” he said.

In his first days in office, Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui set up a task force to look into issues ailing the health sector.

The task Force that was chaired by Prof James Tuitoek submitted its report last month with recommendations on how the health sector in Nakuru County could be improved.
