Thika District Business Association (TDBA) Secretary General Sam Chege has called for the establishment of a Ward Business Council in Kamenu Ward.
Speaking at Makongeni on Wednesday, Chege who is eyeing the Kamenu Ward seat in the 2017 General Elections, said that the council will be mandated to organise the area business community among other things.
"Kamenu business community has grown over time and it is one of the highest revenue earners in the Kiambu County Government. It is therefore important that we have a business council through which the community can have a voice,” said Chege.
He underscored the importance of the ward in earning revenue for the county through trade and house rates, that were recently introduced by the county government.
"I always say that Kamenu Ward is the bedroom of Thika Town where thousands of people come home every evening. On top of that, our markets are hubs of trade as even Machakos residents come here to shop for agricultural products", he added.
