A Kiambu ward representative has called on the county government to donate old vehicles to local polytechnics to learners in their projects.
Ngewa ward MCA Karungo wa Thang’wa asked the county government to distribute the old and faulty county government vehicles to the polytechnics around the county to facilitate their mechanical engineering course.
Speaking during the Nyaga Youth Polytechnic graduation ceremony in Githunguri, Thang’wa said that the commitment of the apprentices earned them a Sh350,000 tender by the county government to make desks for the recently introduced Early Child Development Education centres. He commended the artisans’ work, saying it was setting the pace in the jua kali sector.
Thang’wa revealed that greenhouses will be set up in every ward all over the county to help with job creation and agricultural courses.
The MCA urged the youth to enrol in craftsman courses to find sources of income. He said the country needs carpenters, plumbers, farmers and electricians who will graduate from the technical institutions.
