On Thursday, while donating wheelchairs to people with disability at Kiambere, political activist Catherine Nyamato asked the county assembly to legislate a Bill which will, by law recognise a kitty for disabled persons.

She said many disabled people who have been apparently neglected by their keen have turned to streets to solicit for money.

“The disabled people have a right to be recognized in terms of service delivery. This can be done if the County Assembly comes up with a Bill that can set aside a kitty for the same purpose,” Ms Nyamato said.

“It is quite unfortunate that most of these people have been neglected by their close family members hence leading to their mass exodus from rural areas to urban centers in search of help,” she added.

Further, the seasoned politician urged the county leadership to also consider building the disabled a home that will be under its surveillance.

“They should also be built a common centre at county headquarters and a staff subsequently employed to take care of them. This is fundamental because it is a practice in other countries such as Germany,” she said.
