Speaking at Makongeni ward on Thursday, the MP said that many young people have talents that need to be nurtured.

She observed that nurturing talents will open opportunities for the youth and help curb unemployment.

“I have realised many of our young people have various talents that can open doors for them if nurtured well,” said Ng’ang’a.

Ng’ang’a urged the county government to set aside funds for talent nurturing and help the youth pursue their talents.

The MP also called on for establishment of a talent foundation whose proceeds should be used to help the youth achieve their dreams. She asked Governor William Kabogo to focus on addressing the plight of the youth in the county.

The legislator said that unemployment and drug abuse are among the major challenges facing young people.

The Thika MP noted that development would be realised if solutions to unemployment are found adding that the private sector should support the county government to nurture talents.

Ng’ang’a however took issue with some youth accusing them of failing to seek state funds.

She observed that despite the existence of various State development funds, many of the youth are reluctant to apply.

Ng’ang’a said it is through the development funds that things like unemployment would be tackled.
