Speaking at Forest Hall in Gilgil, Gitonga urged both Gilgil constituency MP and Gilgil Ward MCA to try as much as possible to find ways of increasing the bursary allocation to needy students in the area.

"It is evident that the number of needy students is more than the bursaries which is being given, MP Mathenge Ndiritu together with MCA Jane Wangui should look for ways to ensure that only the needy students get such bursaries,” said Gitonga.

Gitonga, who was much concerned with the way bursary was being allocated to some students whose parents could pay for their school fees instead of helping the needy ones, urged the two leaders to stop the habit and to instead ensure only the needy students got bursaries.

He further called upon all the education stakeholders and leaders in general to ensure that they took part in supporting the county governments in improving the level of education in the 47county.

"Private sectors and local leaders can play a big part when it comes to improving the level of education. I kindly urge them to take part in education issues so that we increase the standards of education here,” said Gitonga.

Gitonga was speaking in a forum where the local people were being educated more concerning good governance.
