The Nakuru County government has been urged to rectify faulty sewerage system in Molo to avert an outbreak of waterborne diseases due to leaking human waste along the streets.
A section of traders and residents in Molo town claimed that the leaking sewage flowing down the streets has forced residents to close down their businesses, as customers were shunning their premises.
Janet Wangeci, a fruit vendor in the town, the sewer leaks and makes it difficult for them and customers, further callingg on the county government to help them.
According to James Kingori a local trader, the county has neglected them since heaps of garbage are left uncollected, which affects them when there is rain and winds as well.
The traders termed the sewerage an eyesore and accused the local health department of ignoring their numerous calls to repair the sewer.
However, Nakuru county environment committee executive member, Richard Kiprop urged residents to be patient, saying experts will visit the area to repair the leaking sewer line.
Kiprop also disclosed that Molo Peace Park will be rehabilitated, adding that plans were underway to construct a public library in Molo town.
