Kisumu County residents’ chairperson Audi Ogada has challenged education CeC Jenifer Kere to allocate more funds to support needy and bright students, who lack fees to secure their education.
Speaking at his office to a group of journalists on Monday, Ogada noted that lots of students in the county were lacking proper schooling due to lack of school fees, and this was a barrier to their education.
He accused the county executive for education of not allocating enough funds to aid such students that lacked school fees.
“I have several cases where students are kept at home because they lacked school fees, it is my plea that the needy students be supported to get education as it was a path way to professionalism,” said Ogada.
The chair also urged parents not to keep their children at home, but instead apply for aid like bursaries, and also try looking for sponsors who were willing to support bright and needy students like Equity bank.
Nominated MCA Farida Salim echoed similar sentiments, saying the bursaries were created to lift these lacking students.
“We need to allocate funds to support needy students in order to get their education dreams and ambitions going,” said Salim.
