The Sh350 million Gotu Bridge project in Isiolo county is yet to be completed a year after the parliamentary committee for transport raised concerns over its delay.
County leaders now wants the national government to intervene and compel the contractor to speed up the completion of the project.
The leaders led by Chali MCA Ali Dima said the project has stalled since the contractors has kept off completing the bridge.
Dima said despite that insecurity which allegedly forced workers from the site to flee for safety, for the delay, life in the remote village might soon be at a standstill since the county is soon expecting rains likely to flood the Ewaso Ng'iro River.
Dima said the county governor Mohamed Kuti should push the national government to pressure the contractor complete the bridge to ease movement in the region.
"Kuti should make follow up for the contractor to be compelled to finish the project, otherwise if the rains starts the region near the bridge should brace for floods", said Dima.
The bridge which links Merti sub county with Isiolo town was started in February 2015 and was expected to be completed within 14 months something that never happened.
