Uasin Gishu County government has put on notice private garbage collectors who dump garbage in unauthorised areas.
Governor Jackson Mandago said anyone found dumping garbage carelessly on undesignated areas will be arrested and prosecuted.
"We should keep our environment clean always. Littering carelessly will not be accepted anymore. My government will do everything possible to ensure working and living environment is clean," said the governor.
He asked residents to report any individual found dumping garbage in illegal places for a legal action to be taken.
Mandago said a Swedish firm will set up a waste recycling plant in the county in a move aimed to produce energy.
The governor assured that his administration is in full support for investors who intend to invest in the county for purposes of development and job creation.
