A Kisumu County worker has been hospitalized after he fell down from an advertisement board in Kibuye Market sustaining serious injuries.
According to eye witnesses, the worker slipped off and fell down before hitting his head against one of the bars in the board losing consciousness on spot.
“He was just painting before he slipped. It had rained in the morning and the board was slippery and that might be the reason he slipped,” said Philip Otina who witnessed the accident.
Attempts to rescue him lasted for almost twenty minutes since he had hanged on the safety ropes.
Sammy Otieno, one of the officers from Kondele police station confirmed the incident adding that the victim passed out after falling upside down making breathing difficult for him.
He was rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Hospital in critical condition.
Following the accident, Kondele residents lashed at the county government for the slow response.
“We started screaming for help after he slipped off and hanged on one of the bars but it took so long before the county government responded. We tried to rescue him but it was hard because of the nature of steep board which made it hard to climb,” Said Beatrice Wesonga a witness.
