Kisii County workers have applauded the county government’s plan to introduce Performance Appraisal System and a code of conduct for its employees to help improve service delivery.
In an interview with some of the workers in the county offices, the performance appraisal will see workers who deliver overwhelmingly promoted and awarded salary increments to motivate them to work harder and better.
According to Mr Jonathan Nyakwara, an officer in the county’s agriculture ministry, county officers are ready to work harder with the new regulations that will come up.
This comes a few days after Kisii governor James Ongwae said his government will introduce the system so that county government officers can demonstrate high standards of ethical behavior and deliver quality services.
“Regarding governance in our county, we intend to hold public officers accountable for their performance and mainstream commitment in the County Public Service Board. We will soon introduce a Performance Appraisal System for all officers in a move meant to help discharge services to the public which is our core function,” the governor said during Mashujaa Day celebrations.
The governor stressed his commitment to improve living standards of Kisii residents who are mainly farmers by improving road networks in the region in partnership with other stakeholders.
