More than 400 workers who are irregularly employed by the Kisii County assembly will as from next week know whether they will receive their salary arrears.
The workers have not been paid for the last one month. Governor James Ongwae yesterday said that the county government had already formed a taskforce whose main aim and agenda is to probe the unprocedural hiring.
The governor added that the taskforce will then hand over its report to the County Assembly Service Board who will come up with a decision.
Ongwae was addressing the workers who were protesting outside his office and he urged them to remain calm.
"I as your Governor want to assure you that I also feel the anguish and pain that you are going through. Let us hope that the assembly will make a very quick decision that will be based on the recommendations that the taskforce will have proposed,” Ongwae said.
Ongwae went ahead and blamed the county assembly service board for the controversial recruitments since its hiring for the assembly while the county public service board employs for the executive.
"I want to assure you that we are going to solve this matter once and for all and anybody especially county officials who will be found guilty of having done something wrong during the recruitment process will face the law accordingly,” Ogwae said.
