Former planning Minister Henry Obwocha and aspiring MP from Bomachoge Borabu Albert Nyaundi have been dislodged from their positions in Ford People party as Chairperson and Secretary General respectively.
The duo are accused of ‘killing’ the party by working to popularise the newly created Jubilee Alliance Party, despite being mandated to work as good ambassadors of the Fountain Pen Party (Ford-People).
Former Kitutu Masaba MP Mwancha Okioma, who led the mutiny on Monday said majority of NEC officials settled on the position, and that they have communicated the position to the affected individuals.
“Obwocha and Nyaundi are no longer members of Ford-People. They have been advocating for the Jubilee Alliance Party principles contrary to our code of ethics. They have been served with expulsion letters and that was arrived after majority of us sitting in NEC arrived at that,” he said.
Okioma accused the duo of undermining the party by failing to pay for its rented buildings across the country, and said an interim committee will be chosen in due course to organize for national polls in March 2016.
“It’s really disgusting that they could not even manage to pay for our rented premises across the country. This is a national party that should not be led in such a shoddy manner. We will meet soon to choose interim officials before we go for elections in March, but for now I will remain the chairperson,” added Mwancha, who is also eying Nyamira Gubernatorial seat.
Obwocha is Jubilee’s point man from Nyamira County, and the decision may not come as a surprise since he has been pushing for disbanding of Ford People in favour of JAP.
