Roy Benent Osano and his wife Beth Muthoni Kimani were charged for failure to pay a Nakuru hotel Sh300,000 between June 22 and July 27 2016 after staying in the hotel.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Bernard Mararo, the couple requested to be released on bond claiming Benent’s side was responsible for the family up keep and that the wife was expectant and that if granted the bond, she will be able to proceed with her checkups while in Nairobi where they stay.

Muthoni added that on the day of occurrence, they were ready to pay the debt but they realized that the hotel had increased the amount by 70,000 shillings hence the conflict erupted with the hotel insisiting that they had to pay.

However, prosecution requested the court not to grant them bond since they had gone into hiding before they were arrested by police on October 12.

The court heard that there was possibility for the couple to flee since they had shown no respect to the CID department which had requested them to avail themselves but they did not do so.

Chief Magistrate Mararo postponed the case to Ocober 17 to allow them apply for the bond.

The two will remain behind bars pending the application.
