A court in Nairobi has freed a man and his wife on bond pending the hearing of their case after being accused of conning a doctor Sh10 million.
The couple is said to have promised the doctor that they would talk to a senior politician who would convince top Jubilee leaders to appoint the doctor as Kenya's ambassador to Congo Brazzaville.
Bramwel Wanjala and Susan Awino are claimed to have been paid the Sh10 million by Dr Ali Raza last year as a "thank you" for 'helping' the doctor secure an ambassador position in the Central Africa country.
Chief magistrate Francis Andayi of the Milimani Law Courts freed both on a Sh3 million bond
Dr Raza had earlier told court not to free the accused as they had subjected him to psychological suffering following the loss of his money.
The complainant told the court that he was shocked after President Uhuru Kenyatta recently named ambassadors to represent Kenya in various countries across the world and his name did not feature anywhere in the commander in chief's list of new appointees.
Both Wanjala and Owino denied having received the money from Dr Raza.
Chief Magistrate Andayi set April 23 as the date for the hearing of the case.
