Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku.[Photo/peopledaily]A Nairobi court has allowed the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to tender evidence through video conference from the United Kingdom in the Anglo Leasing case.
Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku (pictured)allowed the DPP to change the earlier venue from the Kenyan High Commission in UK, to any London court.
Deputy DPP Victor Mule although the laws in UK does not allow video conference, the new development will see them set the next date of hearing video link evidence.
Earlier, the magistrate had granted the prosecution application to adduce evidence of some of the remaining witnesses who are from Switzerland, Unites States of America and Australia.
“The Office of the DPP and EACC must make arrangements for the witnesses to testify from a court in UK. The DPP will also work with the Office of the Chief Registrar Judiciary to ensure that the office provides the said equipment,” said Mutuku. In the case, several current and former government officials have since testified.
