The High Court in Meru has awarded a former police constable Mwenda Mbuko Sh1 million as compensation over unfair sacking.

The constable was sacked in 2003 after his accuser claimed to be an indiscipline case. 

However, the court found no substantial evidence to have Mbuko sacked.

However, in the same year, Mbuko appealed the case but all was in vain. He wanted the court to rule in his favour for him to be reabsorbed back to the police force but his wishes were not granted.

According to the Standard, Judge James Makau ordered that the former constable be paid as he was dismissed without being heard, or his accusers being summoned to say what he had actually done.
