A court sitting in Kitale has issued temporary orders barring the late Nicholas Biwott's family from accessing assets worth billions of shillings.
This follows a suit by Eldoret based businessman Barnabas arap Kiprono who is demanding Sh382 million from the family.
Kiprono in the suit claims that he gave the late Biwott the millions.
Justice Hilary Chemitei in her ruling said, "Temporary conservation orders are hereby issued to bar the family from accessing the late Biwott's assets until the matter is heard and determined in court."
In the suit, Mr. Kiprono explained that he informally loaned the deceased Sh 382 million before his demise.
Justice Chemitei has however directed that the case is referred to Eldoret High Court since a majority of the assets are based in the town.
The late powerful minister in the retired President Daniel Moi regime passed last year at the age of 77.
He owned several investments, businesses in banking and oil companies.
