A Mombasa High Court has stopped the Kenya Ferry Services from testing MV Jambo, a new ferryworth Sh1 billion after she docks at the port from Turkey.

Giving the order on Friday, Justice Erick Ogola lifted an injunction which he had issued against the ferry management body stopping them from loading MV Jambo at Turkey's Yalova Port to be ferried to Mombasa.

He said that since the ferry was on its journey to Mombasa from Turkey, he had decided lift the ban partially to enable it  to arrive.

He however ordered that it should not go into use after the firm contracted to inspect its worthiness raised concerns over its safety.

Bonriz Insurance Marine Surveyors company last week stopped KFS from bringing in MV Jambo through an expat application.

KFS however denied claims and insisted MV Jambo was safe.
