Garissa County Jama Nathif has blamed numerous court cases against the County government for slow development pace in the county.
“A total of 27 cases have been filed against the County government of Garissa since my tenure in office. Our County is the only one that does not have a County Lands Board because of a Court injunction from a resident of Garissa County," said Jama.
Jama has a case in the Court where he is accused of failing to comply with procurement procedures when executing a contract with the Kenya Red Cross e-Plus for provision of ambulance services to the county.
The Employment and Labor relations court last week in Nairobi ruled that Jama unlawfully sacked three County executives.
The Court directed that the three Water CEC Mukhtar Bulale, Environment CEC Alah Yakub and Trade CEC Idriss Mukhtar – be paid their dues, including salaries for a period of 24 months with immediate effect
Jama asked for the support of Garissa County residents saying that his administration has initiated numerous development projects despite the legal challenges.
He urged residents to vote for him based on his track record, promising to do more to ensure inclusivity in the composition in his administration.
“Garissa being a cosmopolitan town, the County needs a leader who can unite all the people residing in the town and am qualified for that, said Jama.
