A Kisii court has dismissed a case that was challenging the nomination of Edmond Mokumi to Kisii County Assembly by the Jubilee Party.

The petitioner, Essy Okenyuri, argued that the party went against nomination rules to nominate Mokumi to represent marginalised citizens.

She argued that one of the conditions that the party set out during applications was that one had to be a registered voter of the county in which nomination was being sought.

Okenyuri claimed that the nominee was not a registered voter in Kisii County.

Magistrate Virginia Karanjah upheld the nomination saying that Mokumi was rightly nominated.

The petitioner expressed her dissatisfaction with the ruling, saying that the magistrate did not address the issues she had raised.

She said justice was not served and will appeal against the ruling.
