A Maseno University student was on Wednesday charged with being drunk and causing disturbance.
Seth Ogila denied the charges before Maseno Resident Magistrate Phillip Oilo for the offence that was committed on Monday.
According to the prosecution, the accused was arrested drunk at Maseno market while he was conducting himself in a disorderly manner.
The court heard that Mr Ogila, after drinking, headed straight to the market place where he started abusing vegetable vendors at the market.
The court heard that the accused even went to the extent of picking fruits from groceries.
Ogila in his mitigation told court that he does not remember doing such a thing but he recalled being in a bar.
"I pleaded not guilty to this charges because I do not recall doing all that, as I was drunk. But I cannot blame alcohol. I ask this court to forgive me and allow me to continue with my studies as am student," said Ogila.
Mr Oilo said everybody should take full responsibility of their action even if they are drunk or under the influence of anything else.
Ogila was fined Sh5,000 for the offence or face 3 months jail term for his offence.
He opted to pay the fine.
